Extra security to catch you cheating on your exam?
Does anything suck more than studying for an exam for two weeks only to arrive to find out it has been rescheduled? Being shot would suck more, I guess. Good call by University of Calgary security today.
Early Sunday morning there was a drive-by shooting at the residential home of a University of Calgary student. Several shots were fired but there were no injuries. The information provided to the University today suggested that the perpetrator or perpetrators had threatened to come to campus looking for the student. As a precaution, the University requested that City Police attend campus. Campus Security was also increased. Two exams were postponed and will be rescheduled.
The University of Calgary takes all threats to students, faculty and staff seriously. The campus community is advised to take normal precautions and advise Campus Security if they see any unusual activity or have any concerns at 220-5333.

Anders being "Anders" pt. 2
Having Rob Anders crawl out from under his rock on Thursday (seriously, where has he been? I can barely find reference in Hansard to prove he even shows up in Ottawa) got me thinking about past Anders antics. Sometimes I can’t believe I’ve forgotten some of his shenanigans. Like in 2006 having his recently fired EA accuse him of accounting fraud using taxpayer money. Now, I don’t know if that is true or not so instead we should simply judge Rob using his own words.

Anders, speaking of his Calgary West nomination opponent, Alison Redford, says he is confident he’ll have little trouble rounding up enough party votes to defeat Redford, “unless she’s got some magic support base of people who like feminist lawyers.”

The thing that I don’t get about Rob Anders is his constant insistence on dragging Canada down. The Conservative government has worked very hard at raising the profile of Canada in the world – helping us become more immediately relevant on the world stage – and Rob Anders takes every opportunity he can to represent us to the rest of the international community as a bunch of out of touch… well I won’t bother to finish that sentiment. Nothing good can come of it. Perhaps a lesson Mr. Anders could study a little more at too.
BTW, we thank you for the celibacy thing. I say do what you can do to help ensure a better future for Canadians.
PS – Is it true that Rob Anders doesn’t drink? If so, how do we explain this photo I found awhile back? ‘Cuz if that ain’t booze fuelled Stampede “fun”… then dang, man, WTF?!

Seriously, Rob Anders? Seriously? I admit that China’s human rights record is, to put it very mildly, less than stellar. But to compare them to the Nazi’s is downright embarrassing and ignorant. Ignorant of both the Chinese and German peoples.
Yes, Rob Anders has shown up in parliament again to say something that makes him look, to put it very mildly, less than stellar. In a remarkable showing of his intellect, Rob Anders has called the current People’s Republic of China government a bunch of Nazis by comparing their running of the (as yet not even started) 2008 Olympics to Hitler’s running of the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Sigh… Is this another case of Anders being “Anders”? If it is true that the Prime Minister keeps his MPs “muzzled” maybe he is right to do so.
Most likely not ironically enough, he made his comments the day before he was set to meet with the Dalai Lama (today). Which, of course begs the question, WHY THE HELL IS ROB ANDERS MEETING WITH THE DALAI LAMA??!! If he is meeting with him on behalf of the Canadian government I’m forced to wonder aloud: is this the best guy we could spare? A back-bench MP with a history of putting his foot in his mouth and having his own party distance itself from him (time and time again)? On the flip side, if Anders is meeting with the Dalai Lama as an individual citizen I have to wonder aloud: who books meetings with the Tibetan spiritual leader, and don’t they screen?
